Virtually no pain during treatment

Virtually no bleeding

Fast and effective procedure (15 minutes).

2. Advanced Smile Saving

A 72 year old patient had visited our family dental centre with destroyed upper front teeth. The patient wanted to remove the badly decayed front teeth because of pain. The patient was unaware of the fact that the teeth and the smile can be saved.

After examination and xray of the teeth the patient was made aware that the roots of the teeth are strong and that modern dentistry and advanced dental procedure can save very badly broken down teeth. The patient was happy to know that there is no need to remove the teeth and do expensive implants or bridge work

The Procedure

Endodontic procedure (Root canal) treatment was done to save the root stumps .

After Endodontic procedure the coronal part of the root canal filling is removed to place root canal post.

Endodontic fibre post is place and bonded into the root stump.

The core is then built around the post

The tooth is then shaped to receive a crown (Cap).

Impressions are made and temporary crown are placed

Permanent crown are placed and the cavities in the lateral incisors and canines are filled.

In the above photograph we have removed the hypoplastic enamel cleaned and shaped the teeth to bond direct veneers onto the teeth.

After treatment

Direct Veneers made from composite material matching the tooth color have been bonded onto the teeth.

Procedure

The crown is shaped in such a way as to retain the ceramic crown

After treatment

The ceramic crown appear to emerge directly from the gums

It is very difficult to differentiate between the original and the ceramic crown

12. DIASTEMA CLOSURE

Most common causes for various diastemas:

Tooth size – jaw size discrepancy. i.e one or more teeth are smaller as compared to the jaw size.

Malformed or irregular shaped teeth.

Treatment plan for distema closure

Removal of habit like thumb sucking and tongue trusting

Use of removable appliances incorporating finger spring or split labial bow.

Use of fixed orthodontic appiances.

Esthetic correction can be done by veneering

Prosthetic correction like crowns can also be given in some cases.

A few important points

The beauty of the tooth is related to the size and shape of the tooth.

The smile is greatly affected by the size and shape of the tooth

Closure of multiple diastemas by VENEERING

Before treatment

The lateral incisor appears smaller than the normal size

Thus according to the golden proportion rule the centrals appear larger due to the smaller sized centrals.

After treatment

Veneers were bonded over the surface of lateral incisor according to the golden proportion rule and the centrals were also shaped similarly.

Thus now the smile of the patient is improved.

13. Smile rehabilitation

Patient with multiple problems with her smile

The Problems

Multiple cavities

Gaps between teeth

Improper tooth/face configuration

The result…………

No confidence in the smile!!!!!!

Veneers(Laminates)

Veneers are thin but strong tooth colored materials bonded on to the tooth

The veneer color is chosen, the shape decided based on the shape of the patients face

The veneers are then bonded on to the tooth

In this person 4 teeth i.e the central incisors and the lateral incisors are veneered.

Confidence restored! A Great smile achieved

18. Multi Disciplinary Dentistry

A young patient of 17 years of age had visited Dr. Saluja's family dental centre with the following as in the photograph below.

Before treatment

He had lost his central insicor tooth of the right side upper jaw a year ago. He had also fractured his left side upper central incisor tooth, and because of the missing right side central incisor there was space closure owing to the approximation of the adjoining teeth. The following treatment plan was implemented:

Orthodontic treatment to regain the lost space.

After 1year of orthodontic treatment

Ceramic bridge after orthodontic treatment

Final result after bridge work
